Most Wabbajack modpacks require SKSE anyways, which is not supported for this version of the game. They need updated profiles to detect/run for gamepass games. Wabbajack, MO2, Vortex, NMM will most likely not work out of the box. But it makes managing load order more difficult when you have conflicting mods. You also have access to to the mods, this may be the easiest route as they are prebuilt without SKSE in mind. Texture/mesh mods should work without any major issues. What you can theoretically do from here is drop mods from the nexus into the data folder (Pain in the ass for keeping the folder clean) so long as they don't require SKSE. In the meantime, if you have the steam version, i highly recommend backing up your executable files in case this update drops on Steam I spoke too soon when i said it allows full access to mods, at this point, you have partial access, but the good news is we have access to the files.

Great news, but this update also comes with some consequences for the modding scene regarding mods dependent on the popular utility Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE).

The Anniversary Edition of the game is slated to drop in November of 2021, and it comes packed with 500 pieces of mod content crafted by the Creation Club. What i also found: at least on my machine, i was unable to launch SkyrimSE.exe or SkyrimLauncher.exe directly from the folder, this is probably due to the way Gamepass DRM works, it needs to be launched through the app. Along with this release, Skyrim Special Edition will also be receiving an update including new, free content. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim continues to defy logic with yet another announcement by Bethesda concerning a relaunch. The new update the SSE executable is probably to allow Xbox Achievements and to allow you to log in with your Microsoft account. Skyrim's new Game Pass executable is 1.5.111, while the steam version of the game is 1.5.97. Update: SKSE will need to be updated to support this new version, it will also need to be modified to load with SkyrimLauncher.exe. I have not tested using SKSE yet, i will report back with those findings. Allowing you to mod it like any other version of it. In gamepass app if you click on the 3 dots beside the 'play' button, it will give you an option to 'enable mods' doing this will give you full access to the root Skyrim SE folder including the SkyrimSe executable. So I downloaded the gamepass version just to see what kind of modding access they allow.
